Manic Monday’s 3 Way Prompt: Reaper

This poem is written for the Manic Mondays 3 Way Prompt from Laura M. Bailey see link: https://alltheshoesiwear.wordpress.com/2018/10/30/manic-monday-3-way-prompt I feel a chill…the darkness surrounding me frightened by the shadow, what could this be? A tall figure with scythe in hand is my soul eternally damned? Reaper comes calling with nowhere to hide my time is up, now I’ve died.

    Daddy’s Poem

You would have been ninety two years young today many memories of you come flooding my way. Times could be rough, sometimes smooth that’s just the way it was during my youth. You did the best you could as a single father gave everything you had including your last dollar. Even though we didn’t show much affection you loved me, I loved you it was our bond and connection. Wish you were here on your birthday to celebrate I miss you terribly, you’re in Heaven and I’ll just have to wait. My Father’s House – Bruce Springsteen

    Cape Breton Nova Scotia

The World Famous Cabot Trail Cape Breton Island has a rugged yet serene quality.  The coastline is spectacular and the Cabot Trail which is a 185 mile loop around the island has been described as one of the most beautiful drives in the world.  The trail winds through Cape Breton Highlands National Park with beautiful vistas and 26 hiking trails which range from easy to challenging. A must see when traveling in Cape Breton is Mabou with it’s beautiful harbor cliffs, fantastic music and a rich Celtic and Gaelic culture which has helped shape Nova Scotia’s identity.  A visit to Mabou would not be complete without a visit to Glenora…

    Go Deep Part II

Whiteman’s Grove After my father’s divorce to Genine, we moved to an old house in Whiteman’s Grove.  The house was a large gray shingle house that sat back on a long dirt lane and it had a detached two car garage with a half loft in the rafters above that we made into a fort.  There was plenty of land for playing and raising animals.  I thought it was the perfect home for a least a short while. Curtis, Joe’s second to oldest son would stay with us often.  My dad liked this because Curtis was like a son my father didn’t have and I liked it because I had…

    Hamoa Beach

“After a visit to the beach, it’s hard to believe we live in a material world.”  Pam Shaw Hamoa Beach is one of those magnificent beaches that many dream of when picturing the perfect beach.  With it’s powder light black sand, turquoise blue water and alluring waves that invite you to come in for a ride with just your body in the surf. Hamoa Beach is located on Maui’s northern shore not far from the quaint town of Hana Maui.  It has garnered many accolades throughout the years as one of most beautiful beaches in the world.  I have visited many beaches in my life and this beach is at…

    Split

You asked me to be a bridesmaid at your wedding and I obliged, dresses were picked and generously supplied. Your stepmother tailored it to fit just right, and I didn’t want to complain but it was a little too tight. Wedding came and went without a hitch, by the reception the dress hurt like a bitch. When it came time to throw your bouquet I was front and center ready to snatch and split my dress trying to make the catch. Everyone laughed, it was the best party around when this bridesmaid on your wedding day split her gown.

    Joyride

“Sometimes I just want to drive away but I don’t have a driver’s license…or a car.”  Quotemaster I have been a bit of a rebel growing up, I have pushed the envelope more times than not.  Once as a teenager I concocted a plan to take my father’s car in the middle of the night and go for a joyride with my friends.  The problem was, I didn’t have a drivers license.  I was fifteen and only had a learners permit.  My father was very strict so I took a reckless chance by taking the only car we had out! That didn’t stop me from carrying out my asinine plan. …

    Little Red Wagon

Little red wagon being pulled down the street me as a little girl sitting in the seat. Bumping and twisting, going way too fast I knew in an instant this wouldn’t last. I fell off of my little metal wagon seat landed face first and lost two teeth. Off to the doctor dangling teeth in hand this is as much as this young girl could stand. Doctor was able to nestle my teeth back in living forever with the memories and this scar on my chin.
